Kiakia processes data deletion requests in line with:
- Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA 2023)
- Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) KYC, Consumer Protection, and AML/CFT Regulations
- Global best practices on data privacy and financial record management
Because we operate as a financial services platform, some data cannot be deleted immediately due to regulatory obligations.

The following types of data will be removed as soon as your request is verified:
- Profile information (name, address, profile photo, etc.)
- Login and authentication records
- Marketing preferences
- Device information & non-essential logs
This data will be deleted within 30 days of your request.
2. Data We Must Retain (Regulatory Reasons)

This includes:
- KYC documents (ID, BVN, proof of address)
- Loan applications & loan history
- Transaction logs & repayment records
- Financial audit trails
- Compliance-related logs
These records cannot be deleted immediately, even upon request.
This requirement comes from:
- CBN KYC Regulations – Mandatory 5-year retention
- CBN AML/CFT Regulations – Audit & fraud-prevention requirements
- CBN Consumer Protection Framework
- NDPA Section 37 – Allows retention when "required by another law for compliance, fraud prevention, or audit purposes."
3. What Happens After the 5-Year Retention Period?
Once the mandatory retention period expires:
- All regulated data will be securely deleted or anonymized.
- No copies will be stored or accessible.
- You may request confirmation of destruction after the retention period if desired.
How We Process Your Request
Once we confirm your identity:
- Your account will be deactivated.
- All deletable data will be erased within 30 days.
- Regulated financial data will be locked and retained only for compliance.
- You will receive an email confirming the completion of the process.
